First Bank of Nigeria Limited, Nigeria’s most valuable bank brand, has again reinforced its commitment to Youth Empowerment and Entrepreneurship through its sponsorship of the Sigma 65th Anniversary Lecture.
The lecture, which is scheduled to hold on October 8, 2015 at the FirstBank Building, University of Ibadan, Oyo State, is organised to engender social engineering for a better society.
Dr. Sola Adeduntan, the Executive Director/Chief Financial Officer and Managing Director-designate of FirstBank, would deliver the keynote lecture at the event.
It is with focus on the topic: “Addressing Youth Employment through Entrepreneurship.”
FirstBank has had diverse interventions in promoting thought leadership, policy influencing initiatives and financial inclusion in Nigeria.
A critical focus has been in the area of SME development, which the Bank considers as pivotal to economic development.
The Bank is also concerned with promoting initiatives that will stimulate the advancement of skill acquisition and capacity building for the Nigerian youth to equip them for a bright future.
The Bank’s sponsorship of the Sigma 65th Anniversary Lecture is in tandem with the noble objectives of the Sigma Club, which includes building and instilling values into its members.
In a statement by the Bank’s spokesperson, Folake Ani-Mumuney, FirstBank’s core values of people, passion and partnership very much align with the vision of the Sigma Club.

Sigma Club was founded in 1950 and was established as a social philanthropic student’s organisation.
The 65th Anniversary Lecture is expected to assemble notable thought leaders and renowned experts in the banking sector, heads of academic and research institutions, staff, students and principal officers within the university community.
