This is a clarion call to all Nigerians banking with First City Monument Bank (FCMB) to act fast or face the consequences, as the bank has suddenly turn into a haven of thieves and fraudsters.

FCMB staffers especially those in the IT unit of the bank conniving with other top management staff have devise Hi-tech strategies of stealing customer’s hard-earned deposits. Not too long ago,two hardworking staff with one of the branches in Port Harcourt, Kingsley Ezeibieli and Chike Himalayais we gathered connived with 5 internet fraud kingpins to defraud unsuspecting customers, by transferring the eye popping sum of Three Hundred and Eighteen Million Naira, (N318 Million) using a secret password of the bank known only to some key officials which enable them to have access to customers account within and outside their operation areas.

Realizing that the fraud in the bank, the whistle we gathered was blown through gossips in the banking hall before it was made known to the branch manager, who later alerted the supervising branch. But the matter we can report was treated as an internal affair, until the Enugu Police Command was brought in.
Apart from the internal fraud perpetrated in-house within the bank, other top management staff of the bank is now being linked with politicians who assist them in keeping their loots. Globalmonitor reliably gathered that top officials of the bank played a key role in conniving with the immediate past SSG to Akwa Ibom State Governemnt, Obong Okon Umanna to siphon money meant for the State to his personal pocket, a case the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) is currently investigating.
Sources close to Global monitor reveal that most of the money given out to political stalwart in the state is always wrapped with FCMB emblem, and cash is released to the former SSG at his beck and call. We also gather that apart from the cash he kept in the bank, millions are also stored in his house at Ewet Housing Estate. Our sources also squealed that the stolen fund stored at FCMB was possible by the sacked Commissioner for Finance, Bassey Albert, who was once a top management staff of FCMB, who is also in the guber race of the State. Globalmonitor also gathered that the Economic and Finacal Crime Commission EFCC will soon be inviting top management staff of the FCMB led by Ladi Balogun for questioning. WhenGlobalmonitor contact some officials of the corporate communications department of the bank for their own side of the story, they never responded as at press time.
