The Federal Capital Territory’s Commissioner of the Public Complaints Commission, Hon. Obunike Ohaegbu has on Monday issued summons to the management of UBA PLC and Unilever Nig. PLC for failing to honour an invitation to appear before him to respond to allegations of fraudulent deductions to the tune of over N88m in business transactions with Unilever on behalf of one Mr. Eddy Onyewuzo, a Benin-based business man and the Chairman of Eddy Onyewuzo and Sons Enterprises,
Addressing newsmen in his office in Abuja, Ohaegbu in a terse tone said he is invoking the powers conferred on him by the Section 9(1) of the PCC Act LFN 2004, in issuing summons to the management of both establishments and warned that they should be prepared to face the full wrath of the law should they fail to honour the summons.
Ohaegbu frowned at what he described as deliberate attempts by both organizations to frustrate the quick and accelerated resolution of the case brought before the Commission since December 2012 by Mr. Onyewuzo adding that such recalcitrant attitude and disregard to democratic institutions like Public Complaints Commission is despicable.
