A dark cloud of retrenchment is hovering over Ecobank Plc and is bound to rain down heavily on not few staff of the bank, OrijoReporter exclusively gathered.
Sources familiar with the impending sack said thousands of Ecobank staff would receive letter of their disengagement from the bank by July 2, 2021.
The situation, according to the account obtained by our correspondent is sending panic wave within the bank with several workers not sure of their fates.
Not less than 30 percent of the staff members are reportedly in line to lose their jobs, particularly those from defunct Oceanic Bank.
“Over 30percent of the old staff are likely to be affected by it. Especially, staff members that were absolved from the defunct Oceanic bank.
“To compound the problem, the affected staff are not likely to get any benefit and if any they are going to get peanut. In the last retrenchment some affected staff were paid as little as N200,000(Two hundred thousands naira) in gratuity,” sources said.
